New Year for Goals

Heh, it's eight days into 2008. I've decided on a resolutions this year. While right now I'm not doing so good at my resolution to spend less time on the computer at the moment, I've been doing better on other things. I'll list them out and add my progress of eight days. Just because it looks nice when you list them. :)

  1. Less time on internet/computer - I do okay with this one until about 2:00pm.
  2. Getting up earlier - I've been waking myself at 8:00am with my alarm clock. It's only an hour difference from my original wake up hour of 9:00am, but I feel better about myself doing this. I've also decided to do an AM Yoga tape we have. The male instructor is dressed in a Speedo, which makes me glad that yoga requires you to close your eyes. ;) Then I read my scripture and take a shower.
  3. Working on my Church duties (callings, visiting teaching) - I'm still working on that, but I'm going to trying and play to practice the piano for Sunday. Doing temple name extraction work (this requires the computer and conflicts with goal 1). I'm also going to try to call my visiting teaching partener and the people I'm suppose to visit regularly.
  4. Working on driving/getting job/writing stories, etc. - I'm still working on those, too. I'll have to work on a plan for improving on these goals. (writing stories also conflicts with goal 1)

  1. You know what? Your resolutions look about the same as my goals and stuff. Less computer. I have to go to bed earlier. And do yoga. And church callings. I do family search indexing. And the writing and the job and the everything.

With visiting teaching, once you get in the habit it gets way easier. Like you just have to start doing it, and then it just sort of flows. But it really is a wonderful thing. When you are in the habit.

Library Memorial

^I made this sign. :) A year from today, my public library closed down because of lack of funds. So we had a rally/funeral/memorial service for our library today. A group of people and kids march down our downtown area and up to the courthouse front steps. Reporters from the local news, radio and paper were there. The newspaper that was doing the story could send out a photographer, so I got to be the "photographer" I took pictures and I read a poem I wrote about the library closing. So I might appear on the local news, which is weird and cool at the same time. And here's the poem I wrote: Destruction of a Library World of Words, Their time is ending. On the shelves they sigh a bitter sigh. Why should people cry? Only words on paper Behind brick walls Why do I sigh, This humble cry? Why do the words mean so much to me? How can people not feel what I feel? About an old building that smells like old paste That binds together beautiful words In the arms of ancient paper Old...

Summer fly was buzzin' . . .

At long last, Oregon has decided it's time for summer. Or it at least thinks it should be warmer. Oregon has strange weather. Yesterday I went on a hike at a local trail and it was nice. There was a lot of bright flowers, and a beautiful waterfall. I'll post some pictures soon, along with some others I've taken recently. My photography class is officially over, and so I have nothing I can tell people so they don't think I'm some lazy bum. (Which is true, but people don't need to know that.) So that's all, I just thought I should make a post, I haven't done it in a while.

Now The Parties Over, But Don't Abandon Ship Just Yet

I don't know how many have been following my 365 photo challenge, but it is finito!  So does that mean the end of my blog? Nah.  I'll still be around, here are a few things you might be seeing in the near future. Instead of a daily photo, I hope to bring you the best photos of the week, month.  Anyway you look at it, there will be photos. Do you ever wonder what all those functions are for on your camera?  I've come across many people who don't know how to use their cameras beyond AUTO.  Thus I will be debuting "Stepping out of the Little Green Box".  Each post will focus on one feature, so you can learn without getting data overload.  I'll keep it interesting and short, because let's face it. In this day and age, we want out information short and sweet. Do you have any suggestions, questions?  Put a comment down below and I'll answer you.
