A Poem For Me

I want to stay a girl,
I want to stay small,
I want to make believe
and to spin and swirl.

I don't want to grow up,
I don't want to care about stupid things,
I just want to be me
and live from day to day.

I wish I was a story,
I wish stories were true,
I wish it was all as simple
as author's say they do.

But I know there's a hand to guide me,
and He watches from above,
and I know that He will catch me
every time I fall.

So Happy Birthday to me,
don't cry a tear,
you can be a girl
for just another year.

  1. Lovely. :) Feeling a tad bittersweet/melancholy?

  2. Something like that. I've been on the edge of weepy all day.

  3. That is beautiful.

And of course you are a story - we are all stories. Viewing my life as a story is so helpful.

    Happy Birthday!
