Music Celebrities and How They Get Popular

So for a while now I've been thinking about the differences in artists/entertainers and how they gain their popularity.  Today it entered my mind again from coming across the picture of Miley Cyrus' new album cover.  How she, or maybe her producer, decided to change her image.  Now I'm not really a fan of her, but I had been hoping that she'd send out a better example for younger girls then her fellow Disney pop princesses have done in the past.  Lindsay Lohan really let me down, I really liked her back in her Parent Trap days.

So what is the deal with changing an image from nice cute, girl next door to club hopper?  Does that really sell CDs?   Maybe for some girls, but maybe because these girls are fed that this is what is cool.  Its cool to where barely-there clothes and disturb the peace by parading at public functions, such as baseball games, or parading the cover of a tabloid.  Because having all your bad girl ways being posted and read everywhere and anywhere is so cool.

Meanwhile, the singers/entertainers I think are cool got there because they love what they do and they don't care how many people are watching their every move.  People who still live normal lives behind there extraordinary ones.  How do I think people like Celine, Josh, Faith, and others got where they are?  Because they are genuine,  they might not have the same values that I do, but they don't go around and flaunt them.  They're real people and don't try to be someone they're not.  At least as far as I can tell.

I know I know, just because of a picture, doesn't mean someone's going down hill.  But its certainly a warning sign.  I just hope Miley keeps to home grown values, even if she is showing off her midriff.   What are your thoughts, am I overreacting, does this even make sense?  Go ahead and comment if you want.  Or not.  Whatever.

Library Memorial

^I made this sign. :) A year from today, my public library closed down because of lack of funds. So we had a rally/funeral/memorial service for our library today. A group of people and kids march down our downtown area and up to the courthouse front steps. Reporters from the local news, radio and paper were there. The newspaper that was doing the story could send out a photographer, so I got to be the "photographer" I took pictures and I read a poem I wrote about the library closing. So I might appear on the local news, which is weird and cool at the same time. And here's the poem I wrote: Destruction of a Library World of Words, Their time is ending. On the shelves they sigh a bitter sigh. Why should people cry? Only words on paper Behind brick walls Why do I sigh, This humble cry? Why do the words mean so much to me? How can people not feel what I feel? About an old building that smells like old paste That binds together beautiful words In the arms of ancient paper Old
